Hello
from Nursing
We
have made a few changes in the coming months with all the new
changes in the government and new guidelines in the future. Some
of the guidelines are we will need a BSN for a Director of Nursing,
so we are lucky to find Heather. Heather Baker, RN BSN will be
our new DON and Jordon Gray, RN will be our new, Infection Control
& QI Nurse.
Changes
are not always bad; sometimes we need to look at things differently.
The world keeps changing and it is hard to keep up with the changes.
Heather
comes to us as a former Ruthven CCC CNA, Charge nurse, and then
came from the Chicago area Acute Care for 5 years. She will look
at things in a different way. She is very caring, and that is
most important. She has two daughters and is very involved in
the health care field.
We
are lucky to have Jordon Gray RN; she has experience as a DON,
and charge nurse. The new position will help our facility be up
on the new things in QI & Infection Control. It is very hard
to keep up with the changes in the government or their ideas of
change.
This
new Team approach will help bring better care to our residents
with the help of all our Nurses and CNA's we could not be without.
Heather
Baker, DON
Direct
From Dietary
With
all the changes, we will be having our Dietary Supervisor complete
a course to become a Dietary Manger. Other states already require
this and it will be a required change in the future. Jessi will
certainly be busy with computer classes and her family.
Summer
is officially here! We had a nice Father's Day Community Coffee,
and served a variety of ice cream cakes. Also this month we had
a fourth of July BBQ. We barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs and
enjoyed many different types of salads. We have changed to our
summer menu at night, which includes more summer type light foods
and we still offer soup and sandwiches for an alternative menu.
We are also enjoying watermelon and other fruits. I will be taking
some time off due to an addition to our family a little boy to
go with our two girls... Don't forget about our community coffees
held every Friday at 2:30! Enjoy your summer.

Resident
Services & Activities
June
was a busy month in activities. We had a going away party for
Pastor Jim. We will miss him and his dedication here at the Care
Center , but we hope Myra and Pastor Jim enjoy their retirement.
We had a Fathers Day Community Coffee with John Wallace and Natalie
Salton leading the music. It was fun to honor our fathers. On
the fourth of July Dee Pyle grilled hamburgers for everyone and
Gorden Andersen played his Harmonica. We've enjoyed sitting outside
by the pond. We are planning a day to sit out and enjoy a soft
serve ice cream cone. We all enjoyed a month of Bible Study with
Alan Oppedal. We really enjoyed his message. We all agree he has
a lot of knowledge and we loved him sharing his thoughts with
all of us. Hopefully he will come back. I always appreciate all
of our volunteers. We have a lovely group of ladies on Mondays
for our Sing Along. Please stop and join us anytime. We are beginning
July's Bible Study with Pastor Roger who is the new Methodist
Minister for Ruthven and Ayrshire. We are all glad to get to meet
him. Take Notice of our room doors the pictures are all done by
the residents. They put a lot of time into these. If you have
a n activity or idea to share with us please call and ask for
me. Ia m always open to new activities and we love visitors. Hope
everyone is having a wonderful summer.

Kathy Berger, Resident Service Coordinator
Yes
another new title, Kathy is still the Activity Director but will
take on a very important role. To over see our residents in each
building and admit new resident, and help transfer them home after
Rehab. She will give tours and work to ensure all Social Services
area needs are met.
We
have had several good gatherings lately with Volunteer Appreciation,
Mothers Day and Fathers Day along with a Teachers Appreciation
Party we had on the last day of school and we love to share the
pictures with you as much as you love to see them. The Teachers
Appreciation was a beach party theme so remember that as you look
at many of the silly pictures we had at the party.
As
always the main goal of the Ruthven Community care center is to
provide the best care possible. We have always felt that we are
doing that. And I do believe that we do give the best care possible.
The staff work very hard to ensure that the care is the best,
and the food and all services. When you come in please take time
to Thank the staff. If there is a problem, please come in and
visit with Kathy or Dee. Kathy is there to make sure we are doing
everything possible.
Housekeeping
& Laundry Services
Housekeeping
and Laundry have been very busy keeping up on things. Don't forget
when you come in sometime it is great when families clean out
Closets. We now have all new beds and working to get new furniture
in the rooms. This has been here since 1986. It has gotten a lot
of use. Also, all rooms are almost repainted. New bedspreads are
in and are used if they don't bring their own. We will be getting
new living room furniture sometime in the future. It has been
ordered for awhile. If you haven't been in lately you will notice
that we now have a music room in the skilled facility.
Sylvia
Jensen's family donated a Nintendo WII for all facilities residents.
We hope to have it up and running soon. In case you do not know
what it is, it is a TV game the residents can do.
The
Van does keep us busy around here, but we do enjoy having it.
Don't know what we did without the Van.
Don't
forget there is no smoking on the grounds only in your car. The
new laws have taken effect so make sure you read the signs.
As
always repairs keep me very busy, but I enjoy the residents.
Colleen
& Laurie do a great job in the laundry so if you are having
any problems let us know.

RCCC
Villa & Assisted Living
We
have a wonderful group of clients in both buildings including
a couple ladies who love to bake us goodies. We really enjoy those
goodies. We have been invited to different events and really enjoy
the music. We now have a group that sings every Tuesday afternoon
with Natalie Salton and Evie Wighdal. Some day we will go on the
road with our singing. Please feel free to join us; The More the
Better. We are keeping busy and the hallways are filled with laughter.
It is so much fun to have such a great group!!!
